Chandi Mandir is a renowned Hindu temple located near on NH-5 Chandigarh-Kalka highway in Panchkula city, Haryana, India. It is believed to be approximately 5000 years old. The temple’s connection with Chandigarh’s name goes back to a notable event when the first President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, and the Governor of Punjab, CPN Singh, visited the temple. Impressed by the temple’s sacred aura and the devotion of its worshippers, they announced that the name of Chandigarh would be established in the name of Chandi Mata.
